PROGRAMS

EDUCATION

Introduction- The education program of Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES) is to empower girls socially and economically. The main focus of the program is to encourage each girl to become an independent thinker and self-learner.

Pardada Pardadi runs four schools affiliated with the U.P. Board. The pre-primary school is called Emma Horne School and the senior school is Pardada Pardadi Inter College. Along with this, PPES is associated with Bhagwati Sarla Paliwal Inter College Jattari in Aligarh as a knowledge partner.

Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES) is a transformative learning organization which aims to empower socially and economically underprivileged girls by providing them with quality education. The main focal point of the education program is to invoke independent thinking in each girl and make them self-reliant. Pardada Pardadi runs four schools affiliated with the U.P. Board, which includes two primary wings of Pardada Pardadi School, ‘Primary Pardada Pardadi Anupshahar’ and ‘Primary Pardada Pardadi Bichola’. The pre-primary school is ‘Emma Horne School’ and the senior school is ‘Pardada Pardadi Inter College’.

1. Imparting Quality Education with Innovative Technology

We offer free education with innovative technology, we also provide study materials, uniforms, stationeries, health facilities, transportation and 3 meals a day free of cost. A daily scholarship of INR 10 is transferred to each girl’s account from class 6th onwards till the completion of their higher education for each day of attendance. From class 9 onwards, the amount is raised to INR 15.Coming from economically weaker households, the accumulative value of this money acts as a driving force for parents to send their daughters to school.

2. Value-based, child centric education

The primary school focuses on activity-based learning aimed at improving the overall scholastic experience. The senior school’s curriculum involves core aca demics as well as personality development, STEM and sports. PPES enables girls to learn and practice life skills through classes and extracurricular activities. Personality development classes include Human Rights, Women empowerment, Art, Theatre, Public Speaking, etc. (School and classrooms pictures will be given) Pardada Pardadi Educational Society follows a comprehensive model of value-based education, and to achieve this PPES partner with The Other Side Intercultural Theatre, New York. The Other Side Intercultural Theatre has been working with PPES girls to create a cross-cultural exchange of dramatic storytell ing which supports their common experience, inspires leadership, and develops community. Under this module, girls are inspired to create an intercultural dia logue with girls in other countries using performing arts, thus creating a global sisterhood of confident young women.(Will be given pictures)

PPES also has a comprehensive sports program where all the students are encouraged to participate in at least one sport. PPES also organise a marathon every year in Anupshahr to address the right of girls to participate in sports.(Will be given pictures) In addition to the above, we at PPES encourage girls to give back to society by doing work within their communities such as planting trees and practising environmental awareness making them sensitive towards their surroundings.

Learning By Doing- STEM In order to bring the students of PPES on level terms with students from more privileged backgrounds, PPES has built four labs that offer children a hands-on experience and not limit their knowledge to just books.

 • SCIENCE LAB
The science lab was started in July 2012 and helps the students to get practical experience in the subjects of physics, chemistry and biology. Access to this scientific knowledge has enabled the girls to pursue higher education in fields that were previously more difficult for them to access.

• ENGLISH LAB
Named after the renowned author and philanthropist Sudha Murthy, this lab combines the use of traditional teaching with CDs, DVDs, and computer games to provide the students with a working knowledge of the English language. • COMPUTER LAB
The UP Board does not offer Computer Science as a subject. As a result, PPES introduced Computer Science with the establishment of a computer lab at the school in 2004. This lab offers the girls a chance to learn the basics of programming and coding, which has led many of the students to pursue computer sciences in Higher Education.

• MATHS LAB
Historically, girls are not encouraged to pursue maths. The creation of a Maths Lab at PPES enables girls to accelerate their learning and build their confidence to study mathematics.

Leadership and Volunteer Program
One girl from each class is selected to perform necessary school chores, including cooking, cleaning, taking care of plants, etc. The reason behind this is to instil the dignity of labour in every girl and remove caste barriers amongst them. (Will be given pictures)

• World Exposure
Girls are introduced to new cultures, traditions and viewpoints through student exchange programs and visits from international students to PPES. Exchange programs allow students to develop a better understanding of the world and bring PPES students one step closer to becoming global citizens. (Will be given pictures)

• Rigorous Monitoring of Enrolment, Attendance, and Retention-
The dropouts are tracked directly by the principle and no girl is considered a dropout until a sub stantial effort is made to get her back to school.

• Higher Education –
PPES takes care of everything from career counselling sessions, to help in applying for the course of their choice. Graduates of PPES also receive mock interview practice, placement opportunities, and securing loans for higher education.

Throughout summer, before PPES graduates join their respective courses for higher education, training sessions are held to polish their communication and interactive skills in order to prepare them for a life outside their villages.

Once the girls start their courses, they are then paired with suitable mentors from their chosen fields who can guide them on how to approach their course and what to expect while seeking employment. The guidance provided by these mentors proves to be immensely beneficial as the girls can make the most of their opportunity to study, to realise their professional ambitions, and be financially independent.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE

Preventive and Curative Healthcare

The mission of Pardada Pardadi Educational Society is to educate, empower and employ girls and women in the village of Annupshar, Uttar Pradesh, India. Without good health, attending school may not be a possibility.PPES is committed to providing our students with quality health care, ensuring that they are at their best in order to succeed. We are also committed to health needs, as well as to health and hygiene education, of our staff, as well as the women and children of the village.

In 2012, PPES opened a student health centre. Our full-time school nurse and staff are available 6 days a week. PPES is the only school in the region that provides for health needs, as well as teaching health and hygiene to their students.Due to the lack of quality health care and the demand for it, PPES opened Prana Health Center in 2016. This new clinic allowed for the expansion of the health program, providing quality medical care to students and staff as well as the villagers of Annupshar. Prana is a bright, clean space, equipped with a nurse and doctor’s office, exam rooms, a pharmacy, and space to conduct health education classes. There are medical volunteer opportunities at Prana, including patient care, public health and research projects, and the opportunity to train local medical professionals on better medical practices. The 180,000 people living here experience a lack of access to basic medical care. The vast majority of people suffer silently, and die, without a proper diagnosis from a medical professional. Tuberculosis, malaria, typhoid, polio, and diabetes affect this population. Educating our people on preventative healthcare is vital to minimize the spread of preventable diseases. This is an exciting period for the health centre with immense opportunities for students and volunteers. With the help of the volunteers and donors, the people of this village will experience health care, which would have otherwise been both inaccessible and unaffordable to them. Over 10,400 women enrolled in over 950 Self-Help Group, & Partnership with NRLM for SHG strengthening
